The Valley of the Moon

The Valley of the Moon is located in the Atacama Desert, about 13 kilometers west of San Pedro de Atacama, in Chile’s Antofagasta region. Its arid, eroded landscape, composed of salt flats, dunes, and mountains, resembles the surface of the moon, hence its name. It is famous for spectacular sunsets, unique rock formations, and hiking trails that allow visitors to explore caves and natural viewpoints. It is one of the most visited destinations in northern Chile for its beauty and geological uniqueness.
