Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park

Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, located in Chile’s Los Lagos Region, is the oldest national park in the country, established in 1926. It is part of the Temperate Rainforest Biosphere Reserve of the Southern Andes and protects over 250,000 hectares of volcanoes, lakes, rivers, and native forests.

Its main attractions include the Petrohué Waterfalls, where turquoise waters flow over volcanic rock formations; the majestic Osorno Volcano, one of Chile’s most iconic peaks, ideal for hiking and photography; and Todos los Santos Lake, surrounded by lush forest and mountains, perfect for boating and excursions to remote areas like Peulla.

The park is home to wildlife such as pudús, pumas, and a variety of birds like the chucao tapaculo and kingfisher. It’s a landmark destination in southern Chile, celebrated for its dramatic landscapes, accessibility from Puerto Varas, and the unique mix of active volcanoes, temperate rainforest, and glacial waters.
